Hanging out at the Reno Airport

On our way up to Boise we had a 2 hour layover in Reno. It was a chilly 75 degrees so we decided to leave security and go hang out outside. It felt so nice! Wait a minute let me back up a flight...so we are in Phoenix where it's like 1000 degrees and Emily decides to freeze a water bottle (so that she isn't technically taking liquid through security) ya, you guessed it...the ice had melted by the time we got to security so of course they call out "BAG CHECK" and confiscate the bottle. Ok, so no big deal...now we are in Reno. We go outside play some cards and just hang out in the nice cool weather and then head up to go back through security...once again, "BAG CHECK". Now let me explain, Mason was heading up to Boise to go to scout camp with my parents ward so he had his backpack, (which had the water bottle) and a camelback...you know the backpack thing that holds water. And that's the bag that they are saying bag check on. I start to explain that it's empty when they security guy tells me that he just needs to remove the KNIFE from the bag!!! "WHAT?????" A knife, we have already been through security in Phoenix with that bag, what are you talking about. Then I hear this little voice coming out of Mason, "Oh, crap! my knife" Sure enough the guy unzips the bag and takes out Mason't pocket knife. He then asks me what I want to do with it. I'm not sure what he thinks I'm going to do, like not go on the flight or what...he then suggests that we go back down to the ticket counter and check the camelback. So off we go treking back through the airport and the back through security AGAIN!!! But it all worked out and Mason got to keep his knife so he was happy!!! The end!

Gotta love TSA. What a joke! Hey if Mason could have shown them his Toten Chip from Boy Scouts they should have let it go. BTW, it was good to see you at Church on Sunday. Take care, AC.
